"Chimps are not like humans"
New data, first released in the same weeks edition of Nature, is reported that 83% of chimpanzee chromosome 22 proteins are different from their "human counterparts."
"The difference is 'much more complicated that we initially imagined or speculated,' Yoshiyuki Sakaki told The Scientist. '" Sakaki is director of the RIKEN Genomic Sciences Center in Yokohama City, Japan.
Sakaki said their group completed the human chromosome 21 sequence around three years ago. Differences found are when comparing the chimpanzee chromosome 22 with the human chromosome 21. These two chromosomes are thought to have an ortholog** relationship.
'So if we analyze this [chimpanzee] chromosome, we can estimate the overall events that have taken place,' Sakaki tells The Scientist. Interesting here the words "we can estimate"; watch as people will drop these words and start using this as empirical evidence for evolution.
(I added bold emphasis on the above quote)
The team sequenced bacterial artificial chromosome genomic DNA librariesI believe they researchers are going to start to find more and more differences between chimps (and apes) and humans. But even if they found similarites, does this mean that we are from common descent? No, what it would mean is that we are from a common designer.
from male chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) and aligned chimpanzee chromosome 22
(PTR22) clones with the orthologous human chromosome 21 HSA21q data using NCBI
BLAST2 to make a whole-chromosome comparison. Sakaki said their analysis found
about 68,000 insertions or deletions. 'That is almost one insertion/deletion
every 470 bases,' he said. In addition, a small proportion of genes showed a
relatively higher rate of evolution than most other genes. 'We haven't known
what proportion of the genes shows adap"
Once again, a persons base beliefs are going to govern how they interpret the evidence they see. An evolutionist says that everything evolved from a common ancestor. Therefore, he will look at the above data and try to form the results based on their belief system.
Of course in all honosty, creationists do the same thing. A creationist says that God created all things and used the same blue prints ( for example - hands of humans look similar to that of a chimps). Therefore, she will look at the above data and try to form the results based on their belief system.
Let's keep an out on these studies and see how they progress.
